Little Bloomers - Brand Guidelines
Identity, typography, source palettes, and usage principles for Little Bloomers.
This document defines Little Bloomers' identity constants. It complements the visual design document, which describes how the source palettes become accessible Material 3 roles in the app.

Name and positioning
Little Bloomers is a caregiver-facing companion for a child’s feeding, meals, and recipes. The interface speaks to the parent or caregiver, not to the child. It should feel warm and optimistic without becoming baby-talk or a toy.
- Suggested positioning
-
A calm place to plan what helps your child grow.
Typography
| Role | Typeface | Use |
|---|---|---|
Wordmark only |
Comfortaa, bold |
The literal name Little Bloomers in brand treatments and the drawer header. |
Body and UI |
Baloo 2 |
Every Material display, headline, title, body, and label role. |
Comfortaa’s soft geometric construction gives the name a friendly, considered signature. Baloo 2 keeps ordinary UI copy rounded and approachable while remaining readable at small sizes. Comfortaa must not become a second UI font: use it only for the literal app name. The font files and their SIL Open Font License 1.1 texts are bundled in the Android app.
Brand palettes
Two candidates remain available from Settings > Theme for direct device review. Their raw swatches are identity inputs, not automatically safe foreground or container values; see the visual-design doc for their Material derivation.
Mark and wordmark
The existing docs/assets/little-bloomers-logo.svg is not yet a finalized
Little Bloomers brand mark. Do not treat its colour, provenance, or shape as a
binding identity decision. Until a final mark is designed, use a text wordmark
in Comfortaa on a surrounding Material surface, with no separate decorative
container.
Usage principles
-
Colour roles are semantic. Do not use a palette swatch merely to add variety.
-
Use primary sparingly for strong actions and selection, never for long text.
-
Keep error red distinct from every warm/pink brand family.
-
Use Material surface containers for hierarchy; do not make every card a saturated brand-colour panel.
-
Selected, error, and navigational states need a second cue besides colour.
-
Address caregivers with clear, supportive language. Child-specific data may be warm, but the application does not speak as if it were the child.
