Homey is a home inventory and household planning app published by Sysout. This policy explains what data Homey handles and how it is used.
Summary
Homey is designed to work offline. Your inventory, locations, lists, recipes, meal plans, notification preferences, imported receipt text, and parsed PDF invoice data are stored on your device.
Homey does not require an account, does not show ads, and does not sell personal data.
Data Homey Stores On Your Device
Homey may store information you enter or create in the app, including:
- Household locations and storage areas
- Inventory items, quantities, categories, expiry dates, and notes
- Grocery, recipe, meal planning, task, checklist, routine, and mission data
- Notification preferences
- Parsed text and item information from receipt scans or PDF imports
This information is used only to provide Homey’s app features on your device.
Camera And Receipt Scanning
Homey requests camera access so you can scan receipts or expiry information. Camera images are processed on your device for text recognition. Homey does not intentionally upload receipt photos or extracted receipt contents to Sysout servers.
Homey uses Google ML Kit text recognition for OCR. Google states that ML Kit Android SDKs may collect limited technical information such as device information, app information, identifiers, performance metrics, API configuration, event types, and error codes for diagnostics and usage analytics. Google states that this data is encrypted in transit and not shared with third parties.
PDF Imports
If you choose a PDF invoice for import, Homey reads and parses that file locally on your device. Homey does not intentionally upload PDF files or extracted invoice contents to Sysout servers.
Notifications
Homey may schedule local notifications for expiry reminders, shopping reminders, final-call alerts, routines, and tasks. Notification data is generated from information stored on your device.
Data Sharing
Homey does not sell your data. Homey does not intentionally share your household inventory, receipts, PDF invoice data, or app content with third parties.
If you use Android system features to back up, share, export, or otherwise transfer app data, that action may be handled by Android, your device manufacturer, Google, or another app or service you choose.
Data Deletion
You can delete data inside Homey by removing the relevant items, lists, locations, or records. You can also delete all locally stored Homey data by uninstalling the app or clearing the app’s storage from Android system settings.
Children
Homey is intended for general household organization and is not directed to children.
